How it works, from plans to numbers
Getting a QS report or take-off shouldn’t be a mystery. There are four steps, and you’ll know the price before we start.
Step 1: Send us your plans
Upload your plans on our quote form. It takes a couple of minutes.
Tell us:
- who you are (builder, subbie, homeowner, developer)
- what you need (a take-off, a priced BOQ, a bank report, a cost estimate)
- where the job is
- when you need it, especially if there’s a bank or tender deadline
What plans should I send?
Send whatever you have. Architectural plans are the minimum. Engineering drawings, specifications and a scope of works all help us give you tighter numbers. If something’s missing, we’ll tell you what we need before we quote.
Is my information kept private?
Your plans and numbers are used only to prepare your quote and report.
Step 2: Get a fixed-fee quote
We look over your plans and send you a fixed fee for the job.
That’s the price. We don’t charge hourly rates, and the fee doesn’t creep up while we’re working.
If the scope changes, for example you add a garage or switch the cladding, we’ll tell you before we do any extra work, and you decide.
You’re under no obligation to go ahead.
Step 3: Approve and we get started
Say yes to the quote and we start on your job.
If we have questions about the plans along the way, we’ll ring you rather than guess.
Step 4: Get your numbers
Your report, estimate or take-off is emailed to you within 48 hours.

Do you need to come on site?
For most of our work, no. Take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates and most bank reports are prepared from plans, so we can do them for projects anywhere in New Zealand.
Some jobs do need a site visit, such as progress drawdown reports for a construction loan.
How long does it take?
Most QS reports are back within 48 hours of you approving the quote. Bigger or more complex jobs can take longer, and we’ll tell you if yours will before you say yes.
